EMERALD WINDS GYPSY HORSES
"ABOUT OUR
FARM"
We are a private farm located at 6 Collie Brook Road,
East Hampton, CT USA 06424 in a very picturesque area of
old New England. As we are very much a "working farm"
with over 30 horses in training at any time and riding,
driving, breeding, and showing Appointments
Are Required to view the horses. We do love to
show the gypsy horses but we need time to organize our days
so please contact
us for an appointment. CALL 860-395-7666
for an Appointment.
Our Connecticut farm has lots of rolling stone walls
and hillsides with old Oak Forests. Once we got involved
in 1997 with the Gypsy breed we knew this would be a long
term love and committment. We began our search for our own
farm a few years ago. We purchased this lovely old New England
farm and have been working on it ever since. It's a beautiful
location and it had formerly been used as a cattle farm
by Henry Sellew and his relations. Last in the family to
have raised cattle was Joseph Bauer some forty years ago.
It's a beautiful place with stonework that is amazing
which includes a beautiful granite walled sluice way for
the brook and wall surrounding the pond plus the granite
stone dam complete with doors to raise and lower the water
level. We have old logging roads that are wonderful for
riding and driving.
In the "if you build it they will come" category...
As of Spring of 2006 we have completed construction on the
new barn and indoor arena as well as many new pastures.
We'll be out grooming the driving trails on the old logging
roads for a bit and we are breeding at the end of April
2006.
The video surveillance security systems are a blessing
and we highly recommend this for anyone with a full foaling
season or simply to monitor horses in pastures and people
on the grounds.
The new MD Barn has been super and is holding up great
going in to our third year with it. Still looks brand new
and having the finished heated rooms and office is a blessing.
We luckily have 24 stalls and a super new 180 x 80 foot
Cover It Indoor Arena for working the horses. The farm is
blessed this season to have additional pastures available
to the horses.
We have carefully planned to provide each of our Gypsy
Stallions his own pasture and his own "harem"
of mares for this Spring 2006 and shortly they will each
again reign over their own herd as they have lived their
lives overseas. We plan to let each stallion live as naturally
as they can in a true herd environment. We believe fully
that this is one of the reasons why our breeding stallions
came to us with such wonderful temperaments and are such
happy, easy to handle studs.
We ride and drive every day. We very luckily can enjoy
105 acres of groomed trails here on our own farm and are
blessed to be adjacent to Salmon River State Forest with
thousands of acres available for riding with excellent trail
systems in place.
We very proudly breed some of the best Gypsy Horses
that you will find anywhere in the world here on our Connecticut
farm. Call 860-395-7666 for an appointment.
With expert level horsemen working on training, Equissage
Equine Certified Massage Therapists, grooms and staff, we
give the utmost care to our animals while they are with
us. The horses are our extended "family" here.
We know each of their unique personalities and most importantly
love them all.
